About Us
The Airbrush Grotto has been in business since December of 2010. Scott is our airbrush artist, and Heather handles most of the customer communication and other services.
Scott has been airbrushing for just under 30 years. He started out at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. He has airbrushed at fairs, the beach, and many other locations over the years. While airbrushed clothing has always been a staple, hood and trunk liners have become his favorite items to airbrush.
Heather has a degree in Graphic Design and has been in the t-shirt industry for 18+ years. She started out in screen printing, then discovered she had a knack for customer service in the airbrush world. Heather designs all of the printed license plates and digital layouts.
In the beginning, The Airbrush Grotto was located in Carolina Mall in Concord, NC. During this time we met many of our regulars (or visitors) that soon became friends and forever customers. If you’ve followed us for a while, you may remember a few Halloweens when we created haunted houses for trick-or-treaters. It was fun while it lasted, and it taught us so much about running a business. In the summer of 2015, our time at the mall came to an end.Â
We then moved to our second location which was a strip mall near a Wal-Mart, still in Concord, NC. While it took some time to re-establish our business, we bounced back and continued airbrush services there for another six and a half years.
In May of 2021, we made the hard decision to close our physical location instead of signing another lease. We took quite a hit during 2020, as many small businesses did. Even though we had not operated online before, we took the plunge! With rising overhead costs (and later inflation), this move helped us be able to continue providing the services we love. We fine-tuned our own (unconventional) business plan that mixes online sales and in person drop-off/pick-up. To say we have succeeded in unknown territory is an understatement. We had no idea of the outpouring of support we would have once we no longer had a storefront.
The Airbrush Grotto will be 14 years old in 2024. We have come a long way since being in the mall. Scott and Heather have developed techniques, styles, and designs that make each item unique in its own way. We appreciate every customer and inquiry we receive. We look forward to being around for many years to come.Â
